 APMF
The Institute seeks active association with other regional
and international professional marketer's organizations in order
to foster co-operation and ideas sharing.
The Institute works closely with marketing bodies in China and
overseas, including the Chartered Institute of Marketing in
UK (recipient of a Royal Charter in early 1989), the American
Marketing Association, the Canadian Institute of Marketing,
the European Marketing Confederation, the Marketing Institute
of Ireland, and the Institute of Marketing Management in South
Africa.
As China is a major focus for our members, the Institute regularly
organizes visits and conferences with mainland marketing associations.
HKIM was a co-founder of the Asia Pacific Marketing Federation,
which now has 18 country members in the Asia Pacific region.
Besides, being a member of the Asia Pacific Marketing Federation
(APMF), HKIM is a member of the World Marketing Association
(WMA), an international marketing body with 150,000 members
worldwide. The WMA is made up of the APMF, the American Marketing
Association (AMA), the European Marketing Confederation (EMC)
and the Federation Latinoamericana de Marketing of LAMFED (the
marketing body representing Latin America).

From 2001 to 2003,
HKIM succeeded in the election for the President of the Asia Pacific
Marketing Federation. The Institute became the President after
strong competition among three other candidates from Asian countries
during the election. Mr KM Yim, as our Chairperson will represent
HKIM to serve as APMF President and council member of the World
Marketing Association.
Furthermore, an individual who belongs to any of the APMF associations has a convenient network of professional marketers available through the APMF. When the individual is posted to or visits another member-country of APMF, reciprocal membership rights are conferred for the period of their stay up to one full membership year. This provides an invaluable instant professional network without which the individual may be severely disadvantaged or even be incapable of doing their job effectively and efficiently.
