Speaker: Mr Alfred Cheung Kin Ting
On graduating from the Chinese Language & Literature Faculty of the Hong Kong Baptist University, Alfred Cheung attained a Certificate of Cinematography from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Cheung has been deeply involved in the movie-making industry since he was very young and was sent to the U.S. to pursue advanced studies in the Art of Movies. He has been a scriptwriter since 1981, with 'The Story of Woo Viet' and 'Father & Son' being two of his masterpieces. In 1983, he took the dual role of scriptwriter and director for the movie 'Let's Make Laugh', which won him the 'Best Screenplay' accolade at the 3rd Hong Kong Film Awards. Over the years, Cheung has been developing comedy with excellent success. Having been devoted to movie-making for more than 20 years, Cheung has produced more than 60 movies in his capacity as producer, scriptwriter, actor and director. Among the most memorable are 'The Happy Bigamist', 'A Fish Story', and 'Her Fatal Ways I-IV'.
In addition, Cheung is actively involved in different mass media outlets, namely TV, radio, advertising, publishing, IT platform, F&B and dramatic training workshops. In 1996, Cheung founded 'entertainment.com' as one of the first showbiz web pages to be developed. Cheung also runs a successful F&B business, including a Cantonese chain restaurant and a Vietnamese restaurant, which are both named after his two most infamous movies, 'Cousin Cafe' and'. In addition, Cheung also owns 'The Barbrian', a Japanese BBQ restaurant. Recently, he founded 'Alfred Cheung's Acting Workshop'. Through dramatic training and role-play, trainees at this workshop can learn how to appreciate customers' feelings and, ultimately, to build team spirit and enhance customer service standards. Cheung has worked with employees at a range of large corporations, such as Tao Heung Holding Limited, Hong Tai Travel Services Limited, H K Post , PCCW, The Hong Kong Jockey Club, Smartone Vodfone and Swire Coca-Cola HK Limited, Hong Kong Disney Land, Ocean Park, etc…….
