Education
HKIM is a well recognised awarding body in Hong Kong. Its qualifications are not only testimonials of professional certification, they also provide a route to full membership of the Institute and a pathway to higher degrees of academic excellence.
HKIM courses are offered at the
・HKU School of Professional and Continuing Education;
・School of Continuing and Professional Studies, the Chinese University of Hong Kong;
・Li Ka Shing Institute of Professional and Continuing Education, the Open University of Hong Kong
・University of Macau Centre for Continuing Education.
Students may enroll for HKIM courses with one of its partner universities and become an HKIM Affiliate Member upon completion of the Professional Diploma, subject to experience, they may be elevated to a higher grade of membership.
Learning Outcomes / Key Objectives
Upon Completion of our programmes, students should be able to:
・Grasp the foundation knowledge of marketing;
・Manage the comprehensive process of marketing
・Develop a promotional mix appropriate to the particular product and evaluate the media that advertisers use
・Explain the importance of customer orientation in the marketing mix
・Discuss how the product life cycle, branding, packaging and positioning of a product contribute to an effective product strategy
・State the common pricing strategies available to business
・Understand the principles of marketing channels and describe characteristics of wholesaling and retailing

Advancement Path

Accreditation and Exemption
Educational institutions may seek to have their courses recognised by HKIM as their students may enrol for HKIM courses with other institutions with advanced standing. Individual students may seek partial exemption from the HKIM curriculum.
HKIM has established schemes for accreditation and exemptions.

Examination Centre
In addition to being an Awarding Body, HKIM also operates as Examination Centre for certain overseas awarding bodies.
Asia Marketing Federation (AMF) Certificate Professional Marketer (CPM – Asia)
The AMF is a federeation of marketing bodies in 10 countries in Asia. Their award, the CPM (Asia) is the only professional designation for marketers in Asia for their competency in marketing.
So far, there are more than one thousand marketers having this designation in 15 Asian countries. They come from multinational corporations to local small-and-medium size enterprises. They have since become members prestigious pan-Asia CPM Society.
CPM (Asia) is a formal endorsement of professional status for marketing professionals who have already attained a competent level of academic and practical understanding of marketing in the Asian region. This professional status is conferred by the AMF and is endorsed by the national marketing bodies in Asia.
To obtain this professional status, marketers are required to:
1. Successfully complete the CPM (Asia) qualifying examinations and
2. Possess at least 5 years of practical marketing experience in any of the Asian countries.
The qualifying examinations cover the subjects:
a) Marketing Research
b) Marketing Communications
c) Marketing Strategy
d) Asia Business
e) Asia Marketing Management

Members of HKIM maybe granted exemption from up to maximum of 3 subjects from the exmination.
Schedule: Examinations are normally held in April & October each year.
China Marketing and Sales Managers Certification 「全国巿场营销经理资格」
This is a widely recognised award of the China Business Managers Association中国商业技师协会. Exams in Marketing, Logistics and General Business are offered throughout China regularly. The certification will add value to the personal profiles of candidates when seeking employment in China.
